Assolutamente no! La maggior parte dei nostri corsi è pensata per tutti i livelli. Che tu sia un principiante o un artista esperto, ti guideremo attraverso le tecniche al ritmo più adatto a te. Abbiamo creato delle opzioni tra cui scegliere quella più adatta alle tue esigenze, spesso con la possibilità di imparare da zero. A volte è meglio invece di dover correggere cattive abitudini a causa di insegnamenti sbagliati. Non sarai mai solo e anche durante le ore di pratica c’è sempre una guida presente che visiona il lavoro degli altri. Ovviamente e’ sempre meglio comunicare tramite mail in modo da avere quante piu informazioni possibili che ci aiuteranno ad offrirvi un esperienza piu mirata !

Indossate abiti comodi e che non vi dispiaccia sporcare. L’argilla e lo smalto possono macchiare i tessuti , quindi evitate abiti fatti di materiali delicati. Si consigliano scarpe chiuse per sicurezza. Nel nostro studio utilizziamo argilla e porcellana beige-bianca; solo chi ha esperienza e ha un abbonamento può utilizzare le proprie argille colorate se deve lavorare su un progetto specifico, lasciando ovviamente tutto pulito come prima, in modo che gli altri possano trovare le postazioni pronte per l’uso.  Se avete i capelli lunghi, è obbligatorio legarli durante il lavoro per igiene e sicurezza. In caso di allergie cutanee o altri problemi, perfavore indossate guanti in silicone o parlatene al momento della prenotazione, in modo che si possa trovare una soluzione prima di iniziare i corsi.

Per i principianti che realizzano le prime piccole forme di solito sì, tutta l’argilla, gli strumenti e gli smalti di base sono forniti fino alla realizzazione di oggetti più grandi. Se si desidera utilizzare materiali o smalti speciali, potrebbero essere applicati costi aggiuntivi. Crediamo che per chi realizza i propri progetti sia meglio utilizzare i propri materiali, come argilla specifica e smalti particolari. Spesso, a seconda del progetto da realizzare e delle dimensioni, i prezzi variano notevolmente, quindi in molti casi non sarebbero inclusi nel prezzo di un pacchetto sul sito.

Assolutamente si! Dopo la cottura e la smaltatura, i tuoi pezzi saranno pronti per essere portati a casa. Questo processo richiede solitamenteda 1 a 3  settimane, a seconda del programma di cottura. Tutto ciò che viene creato è di tua proprietà, tranne i pezzi che non vengono ritirati dopo 3 mesi. Questi vengono donati ad enti di beneficenza che li usano per eventi caritativi o li vendono e il ricavato viene utilizzato per aiutare i bambini disabili che necessitano di cure. Dopo 3 mesi, lo studio Meditau non è più responsabile delle piccole ceramiche che non sono state ritirate. Invece, pezzi di grandi dimensioni o intere cotture in forno devono essere ritirati non appena pronti. Durante il processo creativo, le creazioni vengono monitorate nelle fasi dall’essiccazione alla cottura tramite chat, e vengono inviati avvisi quando viene effettuata la cottura a diverse temperature. Se preferisci, puoi indicare i recapiti di un’altra persona da contattare per il ritiro delle ceramiche create che sono rimaste in studio. – In caso di un improvviso trasferimento all’estero o di gravi problemi di salute, questa persona verrà contattata per il ritiro delle ceramiche.

La creazione di un pezzo in ceramica prevede in genere tre fasi: Lavorazione dell’argilla (a mano o al tornio). Cottura “a biscotto” a 980° – 1000° (prima cottura). Smaltatura e seconda cottura  solitamente a 1080° o 1250° . Dipende dalle dimensioni dei pezzi e dalle tecniche utilizzate: a volte è necessario attendere più a lungo se i pezzi devono asciugarsi completamente e sono spessi, mentre quelli piccoli e sottili potrebbero essere pronti più rapidamente. Gli abbonati hanno la priorità per quanto riguarda i tempi di attesa per la cottura che potrebbero variare da una a tre settimane lavorative.

Le lezioni perse possono solitamente essere riprogrammate entro lo stesso mese, a seconda della disponibilità. Vi preghiamo di comunicarci in anticipo se non potete partecipare a una sessione. Se non viene comunicato entro 24 ore, l’importo non verrà restituito.  Se per motivi di salute poco frequenti o se il motivo è urgente e non potete partecipare a un appuntamento, metà del costo viene rimborsato o utilizzato per l’abbonamento successivo.

Uno degli obiettivi quando è stato creato lo studio Meditau era quello di offrire ciò di cui un artista/designer ha bisogno, ovvero un luogo tranquillo e accogliente (e senza gente random in giro), con le attrezzature eccellenti e necessarie per creare oggetti unici come prototipi di design industriale o sculture, ecc. Per questo motivo, la qualità e non la quantità è una priorità. Sarebbe più redditizio avere grandi gruppi di persone che producono oggetti, ma non è questo il nostro obiettivo. Questo studio è più orientato al lavoro meditativo di creare qualcosa di speciale, spesso esposto in gallerie (ovviamente i principianti vengono seguiti con cura). Tutto ciò richiede spesso costi più elevati.

For most beginners courses, pieces should not exceed 25×25 cm, if you exceed these measurements you will pay more. Larger projects can be discussed with the instructor. The maximum capacity of the 100L kiln present in the studio is 45cm x 45cm – but we can assist in the creation of larger pieces and turn to places where there are larger kilns for specific projects – with transport and firing costs of the ceramics with they no longer concern our studio.

While rare, cracks or breaks can happen during firing due to trapped air or uneven drying. Our instructors will teach you how to avoid common problems, but please understand that the process is part of the learning experience.
If a piece breaks for reasons related to technical problems (for example the sudden lack of electricity during firing- never happened until now) you do not pay for the firing. if, however, it breaks for reasons relating to incorrect information (for example, a low temperature clay is asked to be fired at 1300° (without informing of its characteristics) and it damages the kiln or other people’s pieces, the damages must be quantified and paid. If the glazes they drip down and damage the oven, the damage must be quantified and paid for. It is always better to use supports that the studio creates for the various situations but which have an additional cost in the price of firings.

Slab Building: Rolling out flat sheets of clay to cut, assemble, and shape into structures like boxes or platters.
Creative Freedom: Hand-building allows for more experimental and sculptural designs, as you aren’t constrained by the symmetry or mechanics of a potter’s wheel.
Best For: Beginners, hobbyists, or anyone interested in creating artistic, unique forms like abstract sculptures, textured designs, or intricate patterns.

Wheel-throwing uses a potter’s wheel to create more symmetrical and precise forms, such as bowls, mugs, vases, or plates. This technique is often associated with the classic image of pottery making, but we love to see at the tool that give us the possibility to make not only pottery but part of a design project or part of a sculpture.

How It Works: Clay is centered on a spinning wheel, and you use your hands, with occasional help from tools, to shape the clay as it rotates.
The process involves key steps: centering the clay, opening it to form the initial hollow, and pulling up the walls to create height and shape.
Precision and Repetition: The wheel allows for uniformity, making it easier to replicate shapes or create matching sets.
Learning Curve: Wheel-throwing can be challenging at first, as it requires practice to master controlling the clay while the wheel is in motion. However, it is rewarding once you gain confidence.
Best For: Those looking to create functional, symmetrical pieces or enjoy the meditative rhythm of working with a spinning wheel.
Choosing Between the Two
The choice between hand-building and wheel-throwing depends on your goals, interests, and experience level:

For Beginners: Hand-building is often more forgiving and easier to start with, while wheel-throwing requires a bit more practice and patience.
For Creative Expression: Hand-building is perfect for exploring unique, artistic designs.
For Functional Pieces: Wheel-throwing is ideal for creating uniform, functional ceramics like mugs, bowls, or plates.
Combining Techniques
Many ceramicists combine hand-building and wheel-throwing to expand their possibilities. For example, you can throw the base of a piece on the wheel and then hand-build additions, such as handles, decorative elements, or sculptural details.

Both methods are valuable tools in the ceramic artist’s repertoire, each offering endless opportunities for creativity and expression. Whether you prefer the hands-on, sculptural approach of hand-building or the precision and rhythm of wheel-throwing, both techniques can help you bring your visions to life.

Yes, you’re welcome to bring your own tools, but it’s not necessary for beginners. If you have specific materials or glazes in mind, please consult with us before the session. All glazes introduced into the studio must be closed in containers with labels from official shops. If handcrafted ceramic glazes are used they must be tested first. Private instruments can be used but cannot be left in the studio except in special cases. Everything private that is used in the studio for projects, and is left there, is not the responsibility of the studio. Meditau studio provides everything you need to create even complicated shapes. You cannot use burning instruments in the studio such as flames, and you cannot use equipment that could damage people or the studio. You can bring masks to protect breathing if preparing ceramic glazes from powder, private aprons, private trimming tools, private carving tools, laptops using the studio’s wifi or everything that is necessary for the realization of complicated projects, always deciding how to proceed with the instructors who will make everything logistically simpler or they will advise how to avoid mistakes given their experience
